Face Masks

Acne, scars, tan, oily/dry skin, uneven skin tone? We’ve all suffered from this at some point. If you are much like me then we both understand the pain of spending a lot of money on a chemical product which at the end of the day does not satisfy your needs or does not agree with your skin. Over the years I’ve experimented with various face masks made from household items that have proven much more reliable and effective in helping me gain that perfectly clear and glowing skin.

Here are a few DIY Face Masks:

1. Honey and Lemonface masks

Ingredients:

2 tsp Honey and 1 tsp Lemon juice

Method:

Mix both ingredients together and apply all over the face for no more than 5 minutes.  Wash with warm water.

Result:

The combination of lemon and honey helps tighten the pores on your face. It also helps prevent acne and reduce scar marks, giving you flawless clear skin. Do not use these face masks more than once every two weeks.

2. Honey and Cinnamon

face masks

Ingredients:

2 tbs Honey and 1 tsp Cinnamon

Method:

Mix the honey and the cinnamon powder together and apply evenly all over the face. Leave for 5-10 minutes. Wash with warm water.

Result:

With the combination of cinnamon and honey, you can finally say good riddance to that pesky acne along with the scars. Do not do this more than twice a week.

3. Aloe Vera and Egg

face masks

Ingredients:

2 tbsp Aloe Vera Gel and 1 tsp Egg White

Method:

Separate the egg whites from the yolk. For this particular mask, we will only be using the egg white. Fresh aloe vera gel is preferable if you possess an aloe vera plant at home but, store bought gel can also be used in this mask. Mix both products together and place all over the face and partially down the neck. Leave for 15-20 minutes or until the product completely dries. Rinse your face with a warm wash-cloth.

Result:

While egg white acts a pore tightening agent, the aloe vera helps heal damaged skin and reduce scar marks. This mask is also used as an anti-ageing mask, leaving your skin feeling fresh and as young as ever. You can use this mask as many times as you wish.

4. Oatmeal, Milk, Honey and Water:

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 tbs Honey

Method:

Combine all four ingredients and cook over medium heat in a saucepan.  Let it cool and then apply all over the face. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then rinse.

Result:

This mask is a hydrating face mask. It is perfect for those suffering from dry skin.

5. Banana and Honey

face masks

Ingredients:

1 Banana and 1 tsp Honey

Method:

Mash the banana pulp and mix well with the honey.  Place all over the face and leave it to sit for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Result:

This particular mask is perfect for those with the oily skin type. It helps control the body for eliminating excess oil and also helps gives the skin a perfect, healthy, glowing look.

6. Turmeric, Coconut Oil, and Honey

face masks

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
  •  2 tbs Coconut Oil
  • 1/4 tsp Honey

Method:

Mix ingredients together and apply to the face. Leave for 15-20 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Result:

This mask helps reduce wrinkles; removes sun tan, blemishes, acne, and blackheads. It also gives you a radiant glow. If you are of a lighter complexion the mask may leave a slight yellow tint upon your skin. If this happens then take some sugar along with some water and rub it against your skin to reduce the yellowness. I suggest testing this on another part of your body before trying it on your face.

7. The Burning Face Mask

face masks

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1 tsp Honey
  • 2 tsp Fresh Lemon Juice

Method:

Mix all ingredients and apply to the face. Leave for 30 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Result:

This face mask helps reduce uneven skin tone, acne scars and gives you glowing skin. It is known as the burning face mask because when applied it gives you a burning sensation on your skin. It is not recommended for those with sensitive skin.
